Back In The Saddle Again!

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 22, 2009, 12:04 AM
Hi Everyone!
=LadyAliceofOz and I are back from our business trip now, and trying to get everything here at the house figured out again. :faint: It's really a never ending cycle for us. Some of you know that while on the road I ended up getting a head cold, :sick: It's moved to my chest and is lingering a bit. Poor =LadyAliceofOz contracted it and it seems it's pretty much settled in her chest, and she has this really nasty cough, send her some positive waves! :please:

We did manage to get out in the yard today and I cleaned out the peony bed. That may not sound like much, but it's about 25 feet long, 3 feet wide and was full of dead peony stalks and leaves and grass! :no: We should have a great show this year though. We also had two other happenings in the garden, the deciduous Magnolia, and an "Antique Plum" tree, that was given to me by a dear friend in Arkansas, about 3 years ago actually bloomed for the first time this year!

While we were in North Carolina, we had a really good visit with :iconladyblacksword: and :iconflipwarddragon:. We didn't get a chance to do much shooting, the weather was still pretty yucky, it seems spring is a bit slow in coming this year. While I was there I helped =LadyBlacksword build a new computer. Asus Board, AM Phenom 4X Quad Core, 500GB, 7200 RPM HD, 4GB 1066 RAM, Nvidia 9500 1GB video card... All this in a really kickass gaming case with a 700 Watt Antec power supply. If she can't render fractals with that nothing will! :rofl:

I didn't really get a chance to keep up with my devwatch while on the road, so by the time I got back to my desktop, I had over 4700 deviations to go through! Needless to say, I removed them and started over!

Oh! Some of you may notice that I'm no longer doing the feature section on the "Angel Without Wings" awards... All you drama queens can relax, I don't have any problem with it or anything like that... It's just that I've been too busy to be able to keep up with it, and do those good people the justice and honor it deserves, besides, it's cutting into the time that I'll have for getting tutorials done, as well as shooting, and processing and posting deviations...

This time I'm featuring some of the folks who came by and :+fav:ed my stuff, these are largely new people to me. To everyone else who was kind enough to :+fav: my stuff....
:iconrudeboyskunkplz::iconrudeboyskunkplz2::iconrudeboyskunkplz3:

Thanks For The :+fav:!

A Little Joke

A gorilla escapes from the zoo and after 3 weeks, the zoo keepers give up looking for him. Some time later, a man calls the zoo complaining of a gorilla in a tree in his back yard. The zoo keeper rushes right over. When he arrives, he has a net, a baseball bat, a shotgun, and a Dachshund.

The man asks what the items are for. He's told, "I'm gonna climb the tree and hit the gorilla in the head with the baseball bat. When he falls out of the tree, you throw the net over him, and the Dachshund will go straight for his balls." The man asks, "But what's the shotgun for?"

The zoo keeper answers, "If I miss the gorilla and fall out of the tree, you shoot the Dachshund."

A tiny bit about me...

Just in case anybody wants to know. I'm 53 years old. I have no illusions regarding photography as a career. I was a professional wedding and portrait shooter many many years ago. I was trained by a PPAA award winning Professional Photographer. I now shoot primarily for fun, and enjoy helping others as I can. To dispel any misunderstandings, I've never referred to myself as an "artist".
To me, that is a professional designation.
I am a shooter, that's what I am.

I am a professional craftsperson, and so is my wife. My wife and I have run our own business for the past 31 years, and we manage to keep our heads afloat. :nod: I also do not discuss what I do for a living on DA, as this is my pleasure, and I prefer not to mix my profession with my pleasure.

My wife is: =LadyAliceofOz:iconladyaliceofoz:
My daughter is =LadyBlacksword:iconladyblacksword:
My son, (my daughter's husband) is *FlipWardDragon :iconflipwarddragon:

A Note to all!

Anyone who has :+fav:ed my works...
:iconrudeboyskunkplz::iconrudeboyskunkplz2::iconrudeboyskunkplz3:

By the way, if I'm watching you, and you're watching me, I probably won't thank you for any :+fav:'s. I'll spend more time going through your gallery, or viewing your deviations, and talking with you via comments because I'm not spending time thanking for :+fav:'s! :giggle:

Also, this is a Politics, Religion, and Hate free zone. I have friends from all walks of life, all religious denominations, sects, you name it. There's nothing we can really do about those who hate. So don't spread it around here please! :D

Thanks! It's really just an annoyance for me right now.... Alice's cough is getting some better. Last night it was real bad so I mixed her up a magic potion to relieve the cough... it worked, as usual. :giggle:

If I started a "chipin account" to collect money to fly Ferice & LadyAliceOfOz to Romania to help (mother,smother,bother, and otherwise be a nuisance) Biutz with her pregnancy, would you donate? LOL
